Winning Match: Leadership for Game Changers
Christian Marcolli
Munn Avenue Press (October 2025)
How to accelerate leadership development within a workplace culture
I agree with Christian Marcolli: Among the defining characteristics that all great leaders share in common, [begin italics] achieving extraordinary objectives with ordinary people [end italics] is of greatest importance. Marcolli describes this process in terms of “Leadership Champions” who develop potential “Game Changers.”
My own view is that leaders are “gardeners” who “grow” other leaders. That is another defining characteristic of all great leaders.
In Winning Match, Marcolli draws upon a wide and deep abundance of real-world experience that has generated an abundance of invaluable information, insights, and counsel that can help prepare almost any executive to achieve two separate but interdependent objectives: to become a Game Changer and then to become a Leadership Champion.
I commend Marcolli on his focus on the WHAT of “Leadership for Game Changers” and especially for his thorough explanation of its HOW.

Here are two suggestions while you are reading Winning Match: First, highlight key passages. Also, perhaps in a lined notebook kept near-at-hand, record your comments, questions, and action steps (preferably with deadlines). Pay special attention to the Prologue. Also, to the remarks that conclude each of the 25 brief but substantial chapters in which Christian Marcolli offers a wealth of do’s and don’ts, head’s ups, and transitional observations
These two simple tactics — highlighting and documenting — will expedite your frequent reviews of key material later.
