Symptoms of a Misaligned Organization

In a new edition of Total Alignment, Riaz Khadem and Linda Khadem provide an abundance of tools and tactics to streamline almost any organization, whatever its size and nature may be.

They have identified these symptoms of root causes of organizational misalignment:

o Decision making takes too long.
o Too many meetings.
o Overload of emails.
o Silos.
o Lack of clarity and responsibility.
o Lack of empowerment [i.e. authority] at lower levels.
o Communication is selective to protective individual interests.
o Lack of motivation.
o Confusion and rumors.

“Our goal is to help you improve your company’s performance by eliminating conflicting goals and redundant activities, streamlining processes, and enabling individuals to become more focused on delivering your company’s unique value proposition. Through the lens of alignment you will be able to see opportunities for growth waiting to be explored. Showing you how to harness the unique power of alignment is the purpose of this book.”

I presume to suggest that it is imperative to drill down to root causes rather than symptoms. Also, be sure to keep Peter Drucker’s invaluable insight in mind: “There is surely nothing quite so useless as doing with great efficiency what should not be done at all.”

Infotrac’s founder and CEO, Riaz Khadem, has over twenty-five years of experience in strategy deployment, performance management, leadership, and cultural transformation.
