Stan Lee: The Last Word

It was a brilliant idea to have The New York Times create a series of interviews of a wide range of celebrities who were allowed to have “the last word” before those who compose obituaries go to work. The definitive take on great lives, The Last Word is a series of intimate and insightful interviews with notable subjects that are kept confidential until after the subject’s death.

Stan Lee offers an excellent case in point. He was interviewed by Bruce Headlam and Taige Jensen on November 12, 2018. His video-interview lasts about six minutes.

Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber; December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018) was an American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He rose through the ranks of a family-run business to become Marvel Comics‘ primary creative leader for two decades, leading its expansion from a small division of a publishing house to a multimedia corporation that dominated the comics industry.
