When Barbara Bush concluded her commencement address at Wellesley College in 1990, she asked her audience to consider this possibility:

“Who knows? Somewhere out in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow in my footsteps, and preside over the White House as the president’s spouse. I wish him well.”

Presumably she and Abigail Adams are now getting to know each other, joined in conversation by Lady Bird Johnson, Jacqueline Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Martha Washington.
