I wish someone had shared these insights with me decades ago. That said, I doubt if I would have appreciated them then.
First, Murphy’s Law: “If anything can go wrong, it will.”
Mrs. Murphy’ comment: “My husband was an optimist.”
The Corollaries of Murphy’ Law:
1: Nothing is as easy as it looks.
2: Everything takes longer than you think.
3: If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.
4: Whenever you set out to do something, something else must be done first.
5: Every solution breeds new problems.
6: It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.
7: Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.
8: Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse.
9: Matter will be reduced (or damaged) in direct proportion to its value.
Murphy’s Warning: No matter how hard you try to apply this wisdom, you’ll fail and probably make a bad situation even worse.
