Fully engaged employees: 10 key insights

In July 2018 the ADP Resaearch Institiute (ADPRI) conducted a nineteen-country study of the world’s workforce. The aim of this study was to measure the relative levels of engagement of each country, and to identify the conditions at work that are most likely to attract and keep talented employees.

These are among the insights that caught my eye:

1. Global engagement remains at almost exactly the same level as it was in the thirteen original countries surveyed in 2015.

2. The United Arab Emirates has the highest percentage of Fully Engaged workers (26%) while China has the lowest (6%).

3. Workers on a team feel 2.3 times more likely to be Fully EngAzged than those who are not.

4. By far the key factor for a Highly Engaged team is whether or not team members trust their leader.

5.Knowing what is expected and being able to play to one’s strengths are the foundations of that trust.

6. The most engaging work status is to have one full-time job and one-part time job.

7. Those with more education are generally more engaged at work.

8. Higher-level workers are more engaged than entry-level workers.

9. Millennials are only slightly less engaged than boomers.

10. Women are slightly more engaged than men.
