For mothers of several small children

The way I heard the story….

One hot summer afternoon, an older woman saw a golden retriever on her doorstep, wagging its tail.

She let it in. There was no identification tag.

She filled a large bowl with cold water. The dog drank most of it and then took a two-hour nap before returning to the front door.

The woman let her out.

This happened three afternoons in a row.

Then the older woman attached a note to the collar:

“I don’t who owns this lovely dog but I wanted you to know she has been visiting me for several days this week. After she drinks some water, she takes a two-hour nap and then leaves. I hope you haven’t worried about her.”

The next day the dog returned again, with another note attached to her collar.

“Thank you for letting me know where Ginger has been. My situation is that I have four children under the age of six. Ginger tries to help but the children are very active. When she visits you again tomorrow, can I come with her and take a two-hour nap?”
