They have identified these symptoms of root causes of organizational misalignment:
o Decision making takes too long.
o Too many meetings.
o Overload of emails.
o Lack of clarity and responsibility.
o Lack of empowerment [i.e. authority] at lower levels.
o Communication is selective to protective individual interests.
o Lack of motivation.
o Confusion and rumors.

I presume to suggest that it is imperative to drill down to root causes rather than symptoms. Also, be sure to keep Peter Drucker’s invaluable insight in mind: “There is surely nothing quite so useless as doing with great efficiency what should not be done at all.”
